Besides cross country
possibilities, Lauterbrunnen offers basically no skiing of it's
own.

Yes, it is true that on a
very good day one can ski from Mürren to Lauterbrunnen, but there are no
lifts or ski pistes right in the town, save the small beginner's lift at
camping Jungfrau.
One must take the train either to Mürren or to the Wengen Kl. Scheidegg area to hit the slopes. However to those who swear
by Lauterbrunnen, this only adds to the reasons for using the
village as a base.
Besides being super convenient to both the
Mürren and Wengen skiing, Lauterbrunnen is excellent value
for money and retains a true Swiss mountain resort flavor. Accommodation
choice runs from comfortable camping to three star hotels.
Do
not take the cross country possibilities too lightly here either,
as it is a perfect way to enjoy the beauty of the valley and
get yourself some terrific exercise.
Night life runs from quiet
to none, which is another reason downright serious skiers like to use
the place as their launching pad.
