Grindelwald in Switzerland’s Jungfrau Region
probably qualifies as a small city. In spite of that it retains a
real resort-like atmosphere.
From here entry into the skiing system is
easy, and everything but Mürren is reachable in minutes. There is a
varied selection of accommodation and once you are snuggled in,
there is varied and exciting night life,, More

Schilthorn, Mürren is a favourite with many when it comes to the
Jungfrau Region.
The skiing, if you limit yourself to this side of the valley, is
adequate, and the scenery is truly "picture postcard" stuff,,

Besides cross country possibilities, Lauterbrunnen offers basically
no skiing of
its own.
Yes,
it is true that on a very good day one can ski from Mürren to
Lauterbrunnen, but there are no lifts or ski pistes right in the
town, save the small beginner's lift at camping Jungfrau,,

Interlaken is the city/resort in
the Jungfrau offering, and as such it offers probably the
widest range of accommodation.
This
does not however hold true in winter as many of the hotels
close for the period. The ones that remain open however
tend to be quite good value when the snow flies. You might
look into that. The Jungfrau Region trains run from
Interlaken and connect directly to any of the ski areas on
the lift map,,
